Major Continuing Care Investments Announced Across Central Alberta

Strong Investment in Continuing Care Across Central Alberta
Alberta has announced a significant new round of investments to expand continuing care capacity across the province, with several Central Alberta communities directly benefiting. These projects are part of a broader provincial effort to address growing demand for seniors’ care and increase available spaces in supportive and long-term care settings.
PROVINCE-WIDE EXPANSION
Across Alberta, the government is funding 11 continuing care projects in communities including Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Cochrane, Leduc, and Wetaskiwin.
The funded developments include:
- $63.3M — AgeCare Aspen project (Calgary)
- $14.4M — AgeCare Shawnee project (Calgary)
- $29.4M — Optima Living Hawthorne project (Cochrane)
- $23.2M — Optima Living Sagebrush project (Wetaskiwin)
- $4.4M — Optima Living Hamlets at Red Deer Expansion (Red Deer County)
- $23.4M — Wing Kei Highland Park Expansion (Calgary)
- $75.3M — Golden Age Meadow Continuing Care (Edmonton)
- $62.3M — Belle Rive Multi-Generational Housing (Edmonton)
- $19.5M — Park Place Seniors Living – Beverly Heights Seniors Community Conversion (Edmonton)
- $45.9M — Salem Manor Society Continuing Care (Leduc)
- $40.5M — Evergreen Care Village (Red Deer)
The goal is to expand care options and improve access for Alberta’s growing senior population. This is a significant expansion of continuing care infrastructure across Alberta.
EPS recognizes the continued provincial investment in continuing care capacity across Alberta, including projects involving several EPS-affiliated operators and communities.
These investments reflect a sustained focus on addressing system capacity pressures while supporting the long-term expansion of seniors care infrastructure across the province.
From a procurement and supply chain perspective, these developments also represent a growing pipeline of future opportunities as projects advance through planning and delivery stages.
National Nursing Week 2026: Recognizing the Nurses Who Support Our Communities

In recognition of National Nursing Week, we want to thank and celebrate all nurses for their dedication, compassion, and the incredible impact they make every day.
This year’s National Nursing Week theme, “The Power of Nurses to Transform Health,” is a great reminder of the important role nurses play in our communities every single day.
In Senior Lliving and Healthcare Communities, nurses are often the people residents and families rely on the most. They bring care, patience, professionalism, and compassion into every interaction — often during some of the most challenging moments.

At Effective Pricing Solutions, we truly appreciate the work nurses do behind the scenes and on the front lines each day. Their commitment and dedication continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many people.
To all Nurses — Thank you for everything you do, today and every day. Your hard work and care do not go unnoticed.
Happy National Nursing Week!
Canada’s Seniors Housing Sector: Sustained Demand Strength Amid Structural Supply Constraints

Recent sector developments through April and May 2026 continue to reinforce a clear strategic reality for Canada’s seniors housing industry: demand fundamentals remain strong, while structural supply constraints persist, shaping both investment activity and long-term operating conditions.
At a national level, demographic pressure continues to drive consistent occupancy strength across the sector, with industry indicators suggesting occupancy levels are approaching the mid-90% range. This sustained performance reflects not only aging population dynamics, but also limited near-term supply relief given the extended timelines associated with new development and redevelopment projects.
In parallel, public and private sector initiatives continue to advance incremental supply solutions. In Quebec, the Mission Unitaînés program has reached a significant delivery milestone with the completion of its 10th building and approximately 1,000 affordable seniors housing units delivered to date. While these initiatives are meaningful in scale and intent, they remain insufficient to materially offset broader national demand growth in the near term.
From a capital and operating perspective, the outlook remains stable but operationally demanding. Strong occupancy levels are supporting revenue stability, while simultaneously increasing pressure on operators to manage costs, maintain service consistency, and scale efficiently across expanding portfolios.
For EPS members, this environment reinforces the importance of disciplined procurement strategies, centralized purchasing visibility, and supplier standardization as key levers to support efficiency and resilience in a high-demand operating context.
